DEF Analysis Dashboard

DEF Analysis Dashboard

The purpose of this dashboard is to provide users with insights into the average DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) costs relative to the total number of miles recorded for their company. All calculations are based on data from the FedEx Linehaul settlement.

  • X-Axis: Displays the week ending.
  • Y-Axis: Shows the calculated DEF cost per mile driven, based on the formula:
    • Total DEF Costs (from settlement transactions with description "DEF-Retail") ÷ Total Miles (from the settlement, verified on the Miles Per Vehicle dashboard).

This calculation provides the DEF cost in USD per mile. By default, the dashboard presents the DEF cost per 1,000 miles by multiplying the result by 1,000.

  • User Customization:
Users can adjust the dropdown menu to view DEF costs at different mile intervals:
    • Per 10,000 miles
    • Per 1,000 miles (default)
    • Per 100 miles
    • Per 10 miles
    • Per 1 mile

This flexibility allows users to analyze DEF costs at varying levels of granularity, helping them better understand and manage their operational expenses.

Example Calculation

For a settlement with a week ending where the company recorded:

  • Total Miles Driven: 26,866
  • Total DEF Costs: $327.76

The DEF cost per mile is calculated as:
$327.76 ÷ 26,866 = $0.0122 per mile

By default, the dashboard multiplies this result by 1,000 to display DEF costs per 1,000 miles:
$0.0122 × 1,000 = $12.20 per 1,000 miles.
